ORAL HEALTH STATUS OF CHILDREN IN A RURAL AREA

Abstract
The 11 year old primary school children in a rural area in Kyungkido were examined and DMF person rate, treatment status, present permanent teeth index and DMFT index, simplified oral hygiene index and the number of daily tooth brushing were analyzed.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. DMF person rate was 75.00% ? 71.03% in male and 78.90% in female.
2 The rate of the children who had carious and treated teeth was 2.78% ? 1.87% in male and 3.67% in female. The rate of the children who had well-treated teeth was 0.93% ? 0.94%. in male and 0.92% in female.
3. Present permanent teeth index was 22.69 - 21.73 in male and 23.64 in female. DMFT index was 2.22 ? 1.99 in male and 2.45 in female.
4 Simplified oral hygiene index was 1.56 1.7I in male and 1.40 in female.
12.96% of the examined children did not use toothbrushes, 47.22% used once a day and 39.82% twice a day.
